The predecessor of Electronic and Communication in Hebei University is Radio Electronics established in 1960. This discipline began to recruit master degree candidates in 1998, which is the first master's degree authorization point of Communication in Hebei Province. With continued expansion in the past two decades, it not only occupies an important position in the field of teaching and research in Hebei, but also has outstanding achievements in serving Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and promoting the integration of industry-university-research cooperation. There are 12 master tutors in this discipline and 36 students are enrolled every year. At present, there are three research directions in the discipline: computational vision and multidimensional signal processing, new generation communication technology and application, and intelligent information processing.

Computational vision and multidimensional signal processing mainly focuses on 3D reconstruction based on multi vision or image sequence, remote sensing image processing, virtual reality, brain functional imaging and brain medical imaging. The new generation of communication technology and application mainly focuses on high-speed data communication, spectrum sharing of mobile communication system, wireless ad hoc network, MIMO broadband wireless channel model and its propagation, 5g wireless dense network architecture and key technology, heterogeneous network cooperative communication, application of Internet of things, 5G+ communication and application and so on. Intelligent information processing mainly focuses on new methods of pattern analysis, semi supervised learning, information fusion, biometric recognition (face recognition, palm print recognition), network security, information retrieval, text classification and web page classification and so on.
