This major started in 1990 as an Informatics major and 1991 as an Economic Information Management major. After that, it went through intermediate development stages such as Science and Technology Information Management, Social Science Information Management, and Information Science. In 1998, it was officially renamed as information Management and Information System Major. This major keeps up with the latest development of The Times and disciplines, emphasizes the integration of management, economy and information, etc., and has strong characteristics of knowledge crossing and practical application. This major is a doctoral program of library information and archives management and a master's program of first level discipline, a doctoral program of management science and engineering and a master's program of first level discipline. This major is also the "Double Ten Thousand Plan" major of Hebei University, and the ISEC program of "Undergraduate Academic Mutual Recognition" of Hebei University, with a length of four years.
