This discipline has established a high-level academic-production-research integrated technical system for the research and development of various microbial resources. We preserved more than 50,000 microorganism strains,developed a number of classification methods and systems for microbial groups, and discovered more than 150 new species; established various types of microbial genetic operating systems for the breeding of microbial metabolism engineering and the selected and industrialized of high-yielding strains such as GSH, 5-HTP and PQQ etc. In the past five years, we conducted over 10 National Natural Science Foundation projects, and industrialized 2 scientific research achievements.
This master project in microbiology is divided into four research directions, namely, microbial systematic evolution and biodiversity, microbial resource science, microbial genetic breeding and fermentation physiology, and environmental microbial technology. The four research directions are independent of each other in content and methods, and cross each other.
The courses offered mainly include: Advanced biochemistry, Modern microbiology, Advance in microbiology research, Gene engineering technology, Principles of microbial systems, Resource microbes, Microbial genetic breeding, and Environmental biotechnology.
